Flowerbulb APP - now available for Apple and Android
The recently introduced "Flowerbulb, Pics and Info APP" from VWS is now available for i-Phone, i-Pod, i-Pad and all Android devices. After a period of collecting the right info and pictures, we proudly present the APP for both platforms.

El comercio de flores está a un nivel de precio muy fuerte desde el principio de la temporada. La semana pasada se puede observar un pequeña recuperación a causa del aumento en la demanda en relación con el próximo día de San Valentin. A causa de la conditions invernales el comercio en la calle no vende ningun flor. Se expecta una mejora en el precio en el período hacia el día de la mujer al 8 de marzo. La calidad de los tulipanes puede ser llamado bueno. A causa de la temporada temprano, hay más flores a la subasta en comparación con otros años.
Las últimas previsiones de plantaciones todavía no están publicados pero probablemente el otoño pasado se han plantado meno tulipanes para produción de flores. Variedades como Yokohama y Monte Carlo muestran una disminuación en el areal. Se han plantado los tulipanes en condiciones buenas , pero el período posterior ha sido muy caliente y seco, de modo que algunos cultivadores han visto obligados a regar sus partidad para obtener bulbos con buenos raíces. En este momento la mayoria de las partidas están cubiertas con una capa de nieve y la Holanda está sufriendo un período muy fuerte de heladas, de modo que no estamos seguros como los tulipanes pasarán el invierno.

IFTF 2011
VWS has had a good show at the IFTF last week. Lots of visitors saw the new website and the Mobile App. Because of the well organized Hortiweek more visitors than before made the trip to Holland. The first Mobile Flower bulb App, which VWS has launched, is a great success. The first updates with the newest varieties will be done this week.

Mechanisation Exhibit Lisse 2012
From 10 till 13 January 2012 the 62nd edition of the Mechanisation Exhibit will be held in Lisse. VWS is also present at this exhibition like last year. If you would like to visit the exhibition please contact our sales departmentand plan your visit.

Visit VWS during the Hortiweek at the IFTF
Visit our stand C2-08 at the IFTF during the International Hortiweek and take a look at our new website, receive the product app and see lots of new flowerbulb products we show to you.
The newest varieties of lilium, tulip, gladiolus and iris will be showed and special offers will be made. So there will be more than one reason to visit our stand at the IFTF or our company during the Hortiweek.
Longiflorum
In France the last Longiflorum bulbs are being harvested. The harvest will be finished in week 38 which is the usual moment for this lily type. The harvest of the longiflorum bulbs in Holland will start in week 39/40. The first longiflorum bulbs are already delivered at the export companies and the quality of the French bulbs is excellent. The quality of the Dutch longiflorum bulbs will be somewhat less, since the growing season for longiflorum in Holland was not optimal.
Asiatic/LA
The bulbs are growing well. Some of the plants already start to die off, but the cultivation shows a good till normal bulb growth.
Oriental/OT
The plants are still reasonably green and most of them need to grow to a larger size. If the weather conditions remain normal the coming month, this will be no problem. However, a continuing problem is the strongly reduced harvest of 200 hectare of OT/oriental due to this spring’s frost, which heavily pressurizes the total yield. Specially because the damage is mainly noticed in the most demanded and already sold varieties, such as Robina, Conca d’Or, Sorbonne, Manissa, Donato and so on.
Cropnews Iris 2011
The harvest of the irisbulbs is almost starting again. The growing season has been very unsteady. Shortly after planting there was a long period of early frost.
In spring a normal crop appeared, even though it has been very dry during the growing season. Therefore the growers irrigated a lot, a normal harvest is expected.
The French iris bulbs are being harvested and so far it looks like a fairly normal harvest. The trade of irises is a little behind compared to last year.
